More than a century of quality early care and education.
Children’s Harbor began shaping young minds in 1911. We have helped thousands of young people gain confidence and leadership qualities by providing an elevated preschool education and instilling strong creative and cognitive skills. We consider ourselves to be a leader in the early-care and education industry, particularly here in Hampton Roads.
Success doesn’t happen by accident. Our time-proven formula has evolved over time to keep our curriculum fresh and our teaching processes current.
Our goal is to educate and develop young minds—from as early as six weeks old to 12 years. By keeping our enrollment rates affordable, we can reach more families and engage more children.
Quality education should be available to everyone. We firmly believe income-based tuition provides access to ALL children regardless of would-be financial barriers. In some cases, we can make scholarships available thanks to generous donations from the United Way and other community partners.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is a professional organization that works to promote high-quality learning for young people. Our affiliation with them ensures we are providing the best early care options for our children and their families.
Virginia Quality Engaged.
Virginia Quality is a rating and improvement system that awards quality levels to center-based and family day home programs based on quality standards and best practices in the education and qualifications of the staff, the curriculum or intentional teaching approach the program uses to guide children’s learning, the play-based learning environment, and high-quality teacher-child interactions.
Over the past 45 years, we have developed into the hub for quality professional development in our region. We have a robust group of early care consultants and training specialists that travel all over Hampton Roads to provide a variety of workshops, seminars, learning communities and other customizable professional development opportunities.
Young minds perform and learn better when hunger is not a factor. Breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack are provided as part of the tuition and our cooks pride themselves on the quality of food they prepare and serve. Our food program is simply unmatched.
