Purpose and goals of agency

Places and Programs for Children, Inc. is a non-profit certified United Way agency whose mission is to improve the lives of children and families through comprehensive quality early care and education services. Since its founding in 1911 the agency has developed into a multi-faceted organization that operates its early childhood programs as models of excellence in child care services for infants and children of all ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds; trains child care personnel; advocates for the well-being of young children; and educates parents and the community on elements of quality child care and strategies to foster healthy families.

There is a 21 volunteer member board that oversees the agency. The Board of Directors review fiscal, personnel, and parent policies. Over 130 professionally trained staff members provide programs in the centers that are planned based on the knowledge of how children grow and develop socially, emotionally, cognitively, and physically. Children bring their special strengths, needs, patterns of growth, and experiences daily. Each is treated as an individual. Staff develop a partnership with parents. Parents participate in special events and are always welcome visitors in our programs. This partnership offers parents and staff the opportunity to provide the best program for their children.
